Not that we're proud of it...

We're number one!!!

... as the state with the most dangerous drivers. One of the most dangerous streets is actually SR 50 (Colonial Drive).

We hold the record!!!

...as currently the worst team of the entire NCAA. UCF's football team ended their season with an 0-11 record to total a 15 game losing streak. The longest losing streak in history is 27 games... nearly there! :p

I am art

If this looks familiar, I was looking through people's old entries, because I seem that bored.

I am, of course, none other than blank verse.
I don't know where I'm going, yes, quite right;
And when I get there (if I ever do)
I might not recognise it. So? Your point?
Why should I have a destination set?
I'm relatively happy as I am,
And wouldn't want to be forever aimed
Towards some future path or special goal.
It's not to do with laziness, as such.
It's just that one the whole I'd rather not
Be bothered - so I drift contentedly;
An underrated way of life, I find.
What Poetry Form Are You?

"Six Degrees! What the hell?!"

For the Farewell Breakfast of the Regional Conference that UCF will be hosting, we are planning to hire some comedians for entertainment called the Six Degree Comedy Improv Troupe. On Monday night, they were performing at a local coffee shop across the street from campus. I got out of class at 6 and their show started at 9. Nine! 3 hours to kill. In the afternoon I invited Zena to come with me, hoping she didn't have anything planned and that it wouldn't be too late for her. Because she is awesome, she agreed to come too. I was supposed to meet with Andrea at 6 but, once again, she couldn't make it. But we were able to to talk on the phone and discuss a little bit of the topics anyway.

We ate dinner outside while we waited for 9pm when this guy comes up asking for our "help". He was telling his "sob story" of how he *only* needs 5 more magazine subscriptions to win his contest to get to Hawaii. Some how we were supposed to feel sorry for him? He was giving his whole spiel and being really nice and I *almost* gave in, but ha ha! I had no money. Zena was being super nice and bought a subscription while I declined just as he was about to write out a receipt. The temptation of compulsive purchasing surpassed me! So now he only had *four* subscriptions to go. He had to have some sort of money on the spot and Zena didn't have any with her so we all walked to her car all the way in the engineering garage. LoL so on the way, we were entertained by more of his life story, about his going to school to learn a trade and then finding it useless. so now he's not in school, but soliciting on campus, to sell his way to a hawaii trip instead of earning it with normal people work. oops did i just say that out loud? :p But he was really nice and wasn't some scary stalker, so that deserves a commendation.

After that random encounter, we went to the engineering building to hang out in the office, but instead we found Dan (Jonnie's boyfriend). Yay! We sat down to distract him from his work as Zena told him about her Latin Rhythm Club incidents. lol. He gave her advice from a guy's perspective. Then Jonnie came from her class. Yay! (Oh I hope she got her calculator back...) All four of us were hanging out, all distracting Dan from his homework lol, and then FINALLY at 8:45 we decided to head out. Jonnie and Shannon (who was at another table doing homework) went to the team captain meeting for volleyball.

We arrive at the Natura Coffee & Tea Shop and it was much closer than I thought! Admission is supposed to be $3 but then Zena found her friend of many years ago that worked with the comedy group. She caught up with her and we were able to get in for free. It turned out her fiance was in the group, so maybe she didn't really "work" with them, but just was with them.

The show itself was ok. Andrea's looking more for them to impersonate someone rather than doing the improv acts they did that night. It was like "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" on a much smaller scale. They're all of college age and not as professional as I thought they'd be. Some of their stuff was really laugh out loud funny and then there would be times that was just... not funny. In fact, one of the acts were cut off because it was so bad and one of them even said "...this is the worst improv act we've ever done." Hey but that was kind of funny :P I think the funniest skit was when there were two teams of two and one had to describe a product to the seller with charades. lol. one was a "snotty condom doing anal" (see "not as professional as I thought they'd be") and the other was a "self-basting squid doing algebra". haha. but i have faith in andrea and in them that they are awesome impersonators, so I am going to email them about the conference gig.

Oh and the title of my post? Everytime they finished a bit/skit all of them would clap their hands, pose and shout "Six Degrees!" The the audience would have to say "What the hell?!" lol

Weekend Wonders

This weekend was a family weekend. I can't remember the last time I spent most of the weekend with the whole family, that's pretty sad. We went to Downtown Disney on Friday night where I'm pretty sure I saw Eric Estrada! Yeah it was random, he walked by us with what looked like his family. I had a good look at him and I'm pretty sure that was him, but nobody seemed to notice. Good for him I guess. Yay celebrity sighting!

We were hungry and wanted to eat at Wolfgang Puck Express but it was too crowded. So we decided to check out the Rainforest Cafe. There was a one hour wait but my parents managed to get us in right away! Geniuses. The one hour was for sitting inside with all of the animals and jungle, but the outside had a table just for us! It wasn't too chilly that night so it was great weather to be outside. We had the "VOLCANO!" for dessert. It was chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream in the middle with a whipped cream topping, caramel, and syrup. yummerz! In the picture it had a sparkling firework stuck in it but they had some tinsel shaped like a firework instead. Slightly disappointing but it didn't deter from the sweet chocolatey goodness.

Yesterday we went to the American Indian Association Pow Wow! It was at the Central Florida Fairgrounds but it was way in the corner. They had a real live bald eagle there, so pretty. Except when it turned around and pooped (just thought I'd add that there :p). They had native dancing and singing, it was interesting. It was probably sometime between the Bald Eagle and the Flute player telling jokes that I wondered how do we find these events?! How many families go and do these things on the weekend?? lol. maybe these things happen just so that i can blog about them :)

Rolling Out the Red Carpet

It's Homecoming Week here at UCF, popularly known as "Knightmare". The theme is "Rolling Out the Red Carpet" so there are a lot of Hollywood-esque themes. Last Saturday they had the concert downtown. Further Seems Forever, The Ataris, and Ludacris performed. I heard it was good, but I opted for a Halloween party instead. Monday was Movie Knight, which I also didn't go to because I have already seen Spiderman 2 (twice) and I can see the Adult Swim cartoons any day. Jonnie called me as she was leaving from it because she saw the hospital scene and thought of me. haha she's awesome. :p This wouldn't make sense to you because I haven't explained it yet... well when we were in Milwaukee there was a Student movie night (for the students). They showed Spidey 2 and for some odd reason when the hospital scene came up we both started BURSTING out laughing. It was like the most hilarious thing of the movie/that night. haha.

Anyway, you'll hear more about that when I post the Milwaukee Conference on my lj. Tuesday was the Fair, today is Skit Knight (mostly by the Greek orgs), tomorrow is Comedy Knight, Friday is Spirit Splash, and Saturday is the parade and football game. I will most likely be going to Spirit Splash but the rest I will most likely not be going to (or have not gone to) because of my sister's softball tournament. They were awesome yesterday, beating Freedom FIFTEEN to zip. I'm glad the tournament is at Colonial High because that is only 15 minutes from UCF! I'd rather go support my sister than sit during something I might not enjoy. Well I mean I'd enjoy anything I'm invited to but Tiff's just got one more year left after this one of hs softball, and I'll still have the opportunity to attend the Knightmare events later on. Maybe next year they won't be scheduled at the same time! Just maybe...
